Close to Cartagena, Fenix offers a laid back festival vibe on a large white sandy beach with amazing natural sculptures for your Instagram photos and a huge pool that’s surprisingly quiet.
Blue Apple Beach Club

Blue Apple is a laid-back beach club and boutique hotel on the southern shore of Tierra Bomba. The property is inspired by the lively beach clubs of Ibiza and the South of France, and the experience is as authentic as it gets. The food is delicious and sustainable, with a mix of Mediterranean favorites and Colombian-Caribbean cuisine. The club offers many different activities, and guests can choose from multiple return times to Cartagena.

The hotel has 10 rooms, and it is open to day-trippers during the week. But the best time to visit is on the weekends, when a gorgeous mix of locals and tourists dances the weekend away by the double-the-fun pool. Music is important at Blue Apple, and you can expect to hear a DJ spinning high-energy tracks all afternoon.
Fenix Beach Club

Situated on Tierra Bomba Island, Fenix Beach Club is about a 10-minute boat ride from Cartagena. It features a beach, an on-site restaurant and a bar. Its rooms offer air conditioning and a fan.

Guests can enjoy the hotel’s pool and outdoor terrace, while also having the option of relaxing on the sandy beach or in one of the hammocks. They can also visit the bar and have breakfast in the morning.

Guests can choose from a variety of room types, including bungalows and suites. All are air conditioned and come with a private bathroom. Some have a balcony with a view of the garden. They also include a flat-screen TV. The restaurant serves a variety of cuisines, including Spanish and Colombian. It also offers a Champeta/Afro dance class every weekend.
Gente del Mar

A day trip to this pristine beach on one of Cartagena’s Rosario Islands is a must for visitors who want to relax on a beautiful stretch of sandy shore without the hassle of pestering vendors. Many of the hotels in the area sell day tours to this beach that include roundtrip transportation from the dock, lunch, and use of the facilities on the resort.

Gente del Mar can also be found on many cruises to the Rosario Islands and is a common stop for those visiting with children. You can book a tour that includes a stay at the onsite hotel to make it more convenient and affordable. Guests can kick back on the beaches and a hammocks here with a cocktail in hand, music playing, and crashing waves in the background.
Bendita Beach

If you’re looking to spend the day taning and relaxing with a drink in hand, this is the beach for you. It’s more secluded than other beaches in Cartagena and it doesn’t draw the crowds that the others do. Vendor harassment is less of a problem here too. It’s usually reached by public boat taxi from the main docks outside of the Walled City or on private boats offered in beach clubs with day passes.

The beach here is a bit more rocky than Playa Blanca and the water is a slightly darker blue, but what it lacks in picture-postcard beauty it makes up for in its serene emptiness. Getting here is easy enough with an island hopping tour, but it’s also reachable with a private boat rental and is often visited as part of a more luxurious package that includes accommodations and food.
Cholon Beach

Cholon is known as a boat party hot spot but also offers one of the best beaches near Cartagena. The sand is sugary soft and the water is a gorgeous turquoise blue. This beach is a great place to relax and get a tan. There are a few restaurants that serve food and drinks.

The ambiance is lively, and the crowds are fun to watch. You’ll find people dancing in their bikinis and drinking aguardiente. There’s also live music playing throughout the day.

The best way to visit Cholon is by taking a private boat. This is a great option because it allows you to stay longer on the beach and enjoy the ambiance without worrying about getting lost. You can even add snorkeling or island hopping to your tour.
